The Gory Cartoon Movie Conclusion That Lingers Fans

Among all the mature animated films I have ever watched, nothing has remained with me quite like the dread-soaked ending of the graphically gory as well as deeply subversive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.

Back in the year 2015, the Spanish filmmaker developed a dark, melancholy and often savage world that included several minor , forlorn hints of hope.

Although Unicorn Wars seems like it came from an impulse to advance animation further, the filmmaker clarified that it was rather an effort to express a global, cross-cultural theme concerning “the shared root of all wars.”

That idea is conveyed via a squad of colorful pastel bears , clearly inspired by a well-known series of lovable characters.

Being raised in a culture focused on militarism and the defense industry, many of these creatures are fixated on exterminating unicorns, because of a holy book that claims them they were once masters of the woods, before these creatures expelled them.

A few have not completely fallen for the propaganda, , would rather sample narcotics or engage sexually in the woods.

In contrast to their friendly counterparts, these bright beings have visible genitals and definite urges.

For a certain especially vicious, skeptical animal, the bear named Bluey, the war against unicorns becomes a path to power — and especially to supremacy over his more tender, kinder brother the character Tubby.

The character acts as a tormentor and an apparent antisocial figure , and while horror takes over his squad and kills his teammates sequentially, he seizes progressively power personally, through ever more violent, damaging approaches.

At the same time, the unicorns are suffering their own terror, as an expanding, deadly beast in their habitat.

“In the early stages, it seems like a lighthearted film,” the filmmaker said. “Yet it becomes a more intense and sorrowful movie. And ultimately, it transforms into a scary feature.”

Unicorn Wars starts out feeling a bit like one of the more whimsical features by a legendary filmmaker, that discover a wicked pleasure in allowing animated figures curse, shoot each other, or engage sexually.

Then it evolves into something more like a more grim work from the same creator, with increasingly graphic violence and a palpable link to the real horror of battle.

Ultimately, it is a full-on Grand Guignol bloodbath.

The horror which makes this a perfect Halloween movie starts much sooner than indicated.

The Unicorn Wars is one for the hardcore gorehounds, for enthusiasts of intense movies who want to view a movie they haven’t ever watched previously, and are able to withstand a plot which delivers no restraint.

Watch it in a dark room free from interruptions, and that ending will burrow into your mind and take up residence there.
