Recent details have emerged about the tragic demises of renowned director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their residence property on Sunday.

The Alarm

As detailed in an account referencing a confidential source, a practitioner arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the residence. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.

Upon entering the house, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her contacted 911. Following this, paramedics discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Criminal Proceedings

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now being held and denied bail.

Correcting the Record

The confidential informant also disputed several initial details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the estate, she did not name him as a potential suspect at that juncture.

Furthermore disputed published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "worried" about Nick's conduct in recent weeks. The source claimed the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction applies to accounts of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a event thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the residence. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not appear until Wednesday at the earliest.
