Iranian Forces State Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have shot down missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
