Football Expert Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' 10-game winning run was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international hiatus, but will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated football expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.

In the twelfth round, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

The singer's new record, the new release, is available on Friday.

Football and Family Life

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a charity game the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't force football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football side," he said.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a while too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our side for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is now stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be quite close, though. The Clarets are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' only away win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.

So, what exactly do I predict here - can the Hammers continuing their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will choose Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign began, but they have surprised a few people under their manager and are in good form with three in their past four games.

A family member advised me to select Bees forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will probably score again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

They have not had much success on the road this term, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at home. Brentford will try to attack on the break but I feel the home manager's team carry much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six games.

They have have plenty of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice would be to back the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of October.

But I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to carry on going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the only team they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be extremely eager for a good result, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but they have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
